And what does it have to do with teenage suicide?


i know teenage wasteland is a title of a who song which was actually called baba o reilly........ but for some reason the term seems to be connected to stories of teenage suicide, etc.
what is it supposed to mean/encompass? i dont understand

Here is it from the mouth of the person who created it:

"Pete Townshend states that the song is not about getting wasted, but about waste in general. He was inspired to write the song when the people around him complained about all of the world's problems but did nothing about them."

It's original intent, as you can see, was in no way related to suicide. As we (the youth of the time when it came out) took it, it was more a reference to how we felt in society. We felt useless, unappreciated, and otherwise cast aside. We felt like the space we occupied was a wasteland. However, we felt we were viable. To be cast aside as we were was a waste. :)

well, a wasteland is considered the condition of not having available nutrients/resources that would enable survival, basically not having what is needed to make life and growth possible
i believe this is what is meant by teenage wasteland
