You should only be feeding your RES every other day. And the amount should be the amount you think can fit into your turtles head. NOT counting the neck. Please go to http://www.redearslider.com for more feeding info or the forum where you can ask questions about your turtle- http://www.redearslider.com/forum . I ont know how long they can survive. Look on the site.

That would depend on a lot of factors, such as the age/size of the turtle, its general health, and the temperature.
Older turtles can survive for longer than young ones, and and if the health was good prior to not being fed. Temperature matters since turtles are ectotherms, meaning they rely on the temperature of their environment. The warmer the temperature, the higher the metabolism and the greater the demand for food - to a point. If the temperature is too warm, they may go into a state of torpor (like hibernation when it's warm). They might also go into a semi-hibernation if it's too cold.
The actual answer could be a few days to several weeks, but it's best if this isn't necessary for your turtle. Depending on its age, it may eat other items than turtle food - earthworms, feeder fish, shrimp (frozen, for human food), or even pieces of frozen fish or leafy greens, if an adult.
If you're offering food, but the turtle isn't eating, check the air and water temperatures, and the lighting to be sure that these aren't a problem by cooling off (or in the case of lighting, getting darker, earlier) making the turtle think it's time to hibernate. If in doubt, make an appointment with a reptile vet and get him/her checked out to make sure it's not a health issue.

it could live without food for 7-10 days but you should feed them everyday once or twice.
