Why the heck do theAngels do half the trades they have done in the past 4 years. I don't think there are three people in that organization who, taken together, could produce one viable brain among them.

If you are an Angels fan then check out Brandon Wood. He was a 1st round draft pick a few years ago and the Angels' top prospect. He played very well in the minors last year at shortstop, but the only reason why he didn't play was because of Cabrera. The Angels wanted a pitcher so why not trade Cabrera, whos getting older, and play their best prospect.

It's likely because they realized that Cabrera is way overvalued. He's a 32-year-old shortstop likely to drop off quickly, and his offensive value has never been great.

His career .321 OBP is below average, and he has little in the way of power. He doesn't strike out much, but he also refuses to take walks, and that hurts his offensive value. He's no better than an 8th-place hitter in most lineups, and even his excellent defense isn't enough to make up for that weak bat.

They got a workhorse in Garland, and guys like that don't come along often in deals for overvalued shortstops. Garland might not be an ace, but he'll take the third spot in a rotation, and provide 15+ wins and a lot of innings. The Angels got the better of this deal. Cabrera really isn't that good - the stats back it up.

They don't really need him. Yahoo Sports says they are already in talks with Florida about acquiring Miguel Cabrera. Their primary need was pitching. Now with Lackey, Kelvim Escobar, Garland and if Ervin Santana can rebound, they have themselves a real good staff that can challenge Boston for the AL crown. If they land Cabrera, along with the addition of Torii Hunter...if Boston is #1, Anaheim is a very close 1A.

I think there putting together a trade that will get them Miguel Tejada. Something like Santana, Figgins and prospects. I think Hunter, Tejada and Vlad would be a great combo. With the pitching they have and that line up they would give Boston a great run for its money. Then they could either move Tejada or Brandon Woods to 3rd base and start the other at Short

To get young and improving Jon Garland. Adding another pitcher to their staff is a really good move, it will help them organize their offense a lot more, and it will help them focus more on getting decent fielders (Torri Hunter which they already got) and some more big power hitters.

It would be nice if they picked up maybe Gary Sheffield or maybe even a hefty price Andruw Jones. It would be a really good move if they got some decent power hitting outfielder.

Because they got Jon Garland, who they could use for when they trade young pitchers to Florida for Miguel Cabrera.

They must have gotten a pretty good deal from the Chicago White Sox to give him up to them, and they got Jon Garland in the deal whether this is a good or bad move, we don't know yet how it will play out for both teams.

its ok, it was only a trade to set up others, it sucks to loose oc cause he is a great player and a great presence, but the team is very high on eric aybar and brandon wood, plus oc was going to be a free agent after the 08 season anyway and the team had no plans to re-sign him, now at least they get something in return
