Is writing U.S. gramatically acceptable?

We have so many names....
United States of America
U.S.A.
U.S.
USA
US
U.S. of A.
United States
America

And then there are probably names countries that don't like the USA call them too. But, I ignore those.

USA is the most commonly used. Writing U.S. would be gramatically acceptable, yes.

It does not matter. You should abbreviate by U.S. or U.S.A. with the periods. Otherwise if you can...try to spell it out: "United States".

Personally, I write USA. Although U.S.A. is acceptable.

If its in a formal paper/essay, always write the entire thing out. I don't think it really matters if you arent writing a paper though. I normally just put US or USA.. Mainly US

Yes, U.S. is acceptable. You're supposed to use periods when you abbreviate it, but most people don't.

All three work, but U.S.A. might be the most proper.
