"The Brothers Karamazov", by Fyodor Dostoyevsky. A bit heavy.
I recommend "The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle". Great story about a thirteen yr. old girl; it's one of my all time favorites!

Crime and Punishment, but I don't think is a good book for 12 years old. I am reading it for my 12th grade class.
You should read "Avalon High" by Meg Cabot. If you want to know about King Author dramatic life. It's awesome.

"Blood Rites" by Jim Butcher (book 6 in his Dresden Files series). If you like fantasy and mystery/thriller books, you might enjoy the series.

"all creatures great and small" by James Harriet
it is memoirs of a young Scottish vet that just finished his education and comes to work as a vet in a Yorkshire village....it is full of hilarious anecdote .....i loved it ...there are 3 other sequel to it that i am going to read after i am finished this one....it is very humorous you will enjoy it
