Anytime anyone asks for non disclosure to all interested parties -- something fishy is going on.

Every, and I do mean EVERY bit of compensation that a Realtor receives has to be disclosed to all parties. Report the jerk, all of those of us who are trying to conduct business ethically will be grateful.

It sounds like the contractor is paying a kickback to the REALTOR for getting him the job to renovate the condominium.

If this is not illegal, it should be.

In most states it is unethical for a REALTOR to accept undisclosed fees as a result of closing a transaction. If he had an understanding for compensation for a referral with the contractor that he recommended to the buyer then he was obligated to disclose that to the buyer or the seller.

Contact your State Department of Real Estate and they can help you determine the answer to your question. REALTOR cannot assume kickbacks or gifts from third parties for any service rendered.

Irish is right. I don't quite understand what kind of commission he tried to scam the contractor out of.
