The person I chose, I hardly know, except that he's a nice guy. I know very little about him and we work different shifts. The idea is to pick 11 very small gifts (dollar store stuff) and then one nice gift on the 12th day (I'm assuming approx. $20 limit - I don't know)... but any ideas on what to get a professional co-worker? If it was a girl, it would be easy, candles, body washes, etc. But it's for a guy and I'm pretty much stuck!

The dollar store has many choices, I might suggest snack foods for a few gifts ,guys always need coffee cups or drinking glasses. The nice gift should be easy a gift certificate to Best Buy or Radio Shack ought to cover it. Good Luck

Try and find out a little more about him from other co-workers if you can. Men can also used body washes (they make them for men, too). A lot of men also like scented candles, but go more for spice scents. Do you know if he's single, girlfriend, married or has kids? Gift certificates are also a nice idea for about anyone (movie rentals, restaurants, etc). Hope this helps.

don't think so hard (guys are relatively simple) no offense gentlemen.

food &drink(beer, snacks, energy drinks, gum, or you could make him homeade desserts, etc.)
money (giftcards, lotto/scratch tickets)
music & movies
sports(tickets, fan memrobelia, etc.)
cheap gifts: go with a joke and get him really lame gifts and then go all out on the last semi-expensive one--for this, casually bring up the conversation, "Hmmm, i wonder who my secret santa is. I hope they get me________" and maybe he'll mention what he wants, just pretend not to be too interested in what he's saying & don't ask someone else to ask him, more than likely they'll let it slip & ruin the surprise.)

find out what kind of guy he is ... athlete, computer geek, avid golf fan, and then buy things toward that end.... golf balls or tees, car magazines, a really cool dvd, dvd rental gift certificate, tire air gauge, homemade brownies or cookies, coffee cups, new car smell spray for his auto, auto visor that reflects sun, scarf, gloves, wallet (there are some cute cheap ones with the local teams logo on it) . WOW! This is tougher than it seems!

sounds kind of silly to be wasting money on $1 items the person may never use....then to have to spend more on another gift? stick with the lottery tickets, or maybe some different kinds of beers, snacks like chips, beef jerky, nuts, breath mints, tooth paste, stuff the average person will definitely use, a festive pen maybe?
