Two ideas:
1) If he doesn't already subscribe, find some magazines related to those interests and give him a subscription.
2) Almost everybody I know has a pile of photos somewhere they keep meaning to frame. If there are some related to an event or vacation that you and your Dad shared, round up those pictures and have them professionally framed (or do it yourself). Attach a heart-felt note about how you enjoyed that time together. I know making something for your Dad sounds hokey, but this dad loves getting that sort of thing.

tools to fix his motorcycle? or a book about motorcycles. scuba equipment, like replacing his old stuff, wine importer-find what wine he likes and electronics-does he like to read? if he likes to read maybe a sony digital reader would hit the spot-but kinda costly at moment.....................

IF HE DOES HIS OWN MECHANICS OR IS A HANDYMAN TYPE BUY HIM A DRILL DOCTOR.IT SHARPENS DRILL BITS AND IF YOUR DAD IS LIKE MOST THE EYE SIGHT IS GOING AND THIS MAKES IT TOUGH TO SHARPEN YOUR OWN DRILLS
