I was talking to my friend about the lost Season3 finale and they think that the whole episode was a flashforward, whereas i just think the last part where Jack meets with Kate is one. What do you think and why or why not.

I think that any scene that showed Jack with a beard was a flash forward..the rest was in present time.

The last episode shows a shift in the direction of the show, both from a plot perspective as well as the method of story telling.

The rest of the series will be about the people being rescued (in my opinion). The writers have said that the series will be wrapped up after 5 (or 6) seasons.

If you reflect back on the show, all you saw in the episode was Jack flying and having a run in with the head of spinal surgery at the hospital he works at. Never before did they mention Jack having drug problems in the prior episodes. Now he is addicted to oxycotin. Why? That is something they will probably explain. Either way, my impression was that he felt useful and important on the island and when he spoke with Kate at the end, he felt miserable that he is back in civilization. So I suspect that the rest of the series will be flash forwards for the rest of the characters.

It was a flash forward, that's what they put in to really throw everyone for a loop. The 'funeral' was for Michael.

You can check information by searching for episode guides online for the show. They give play by play information on each episode.

I don't exactly remember it, but the "consensus" amongst the fans that post on the Lost web-site was that the "flashbacks" and the end part were all really flash - forwards.

I have no idea, it was probably a flash forward because nothing else would make sense. I was so confused when that happened. Do you know when season 4 is going to start?

I don't know. I just finished watching them all last week on ABC's website, but even watching them all in order, I was so confused. I suggest you go to http://www.abc.com and watch it again.
