What I have already tried .....Disk cleanup, reinstall windows XP, msconfig, CCleaner, Disk Defragment. This all began when i did a system restore and then undid it. I have for protection CA Security Center and I like to daily update and scan for spyware. .......
But no my laptop runs to slow to even do a scan or open Internet Explorer......Any suggestions? Thanks.

I don't know why you did a restore then undid it, maybe you were having a problem before? At this point get a copy of spybotSD and AdawareSE, reboot the laptop into safe mode (F8 at startup) and run both those programs followed by a virus scan. If you have any malware or a virus starting in safe mode will usually not initialize them so the programs you have can clean them out.
