Legal and licensed, with appropriate periodic health exams...absolutely.

It's legal for Suzy, an adult, to voluntarily sleep with me.
It's legal for me, an adult, to voluntarily give Suzy $300 of my money.

Why is it illegal to link those two legal acts?

I personally would never go into the business, but sure, if people choose to do it, they should pay taxes on it like everyone else that has a job and pays taxes. I do have to mention though, that one year while working as a tax preparer, a coworker of mine had a client that came in and actually reported income that she had received while making a living as a prostitute! She listed the income under miscellaneous!

To me, I don't see how its any different than the adult film industry or any other adult entertainment business that are legal. Either legalize both or make them all illegal.

I think by legalizing prostitution the government could control it, track it, contain it, etc, like in other countries where it is legal.

While I do believe prostitution to be immoral, along with pornography, I also believe that morality can not be legislated by the government. People that want to be immoral will be immoral.

Even if prostitution were made legal, it would not remove the curse from it.
It would be good to decriminalize it....but at the same time, there would be no way to lift the curse from it.
The curse is that a man who spends money on harlots goes broke.

I have a back that has no cushion in between 4 discs and I work my butt off, so your puny excuses are no good. You can sit and type and play on the computer but you can't work? Your a bum who wants your wife to spread her legs because you don't have the drive to work like a man. You are off your rocker dude. Get a job, be a man, and treat your wife as you should, like a queen. She shouldn't have to become a whorre for you. Get a life.

Yes. Prostitution is a victimless crime, provided of course that the the provider and the purchaser are both of age. It is not the governent's job to protect us from ourselves.

whether YOU think it should be legal or not depends on you, but it is in Sydney Australia (where i am ).
it must be confined to a brothel(no street working ) & the brothel must be a certain distance ( several hundred metres/yards ) from schools, churches ,kindergartens etc.
& yes, they do pay income tax (they call their occupation "sex workers".)
they say they are providing a legitimate comercial service, & some also say that it keeps the rape rate down by offering a service for $ that some would just "take" (rape ).
it is very regulated- condoms MUST be used & health checks are required.

NO, as I have said before. If it were to be made legal then people who lost their jobs and collecting unemployment would be expected to take a job like this. So in other words it would be forced and against their will.

Although I am personally against prostitution, I don't think the government has the right to tell them they can't do it as long as they take proper precautions. Regular testing for STD's and MANDATORY use of condoms.

yes, so prostitutes can be protected from pimps, have safer options for locations, can come to police when they are raped or beaten, so medical exams can be performed, and because their victims, not criminals. plus taxes could be used to fund women shelters and reach out programs to help them.
