Getting your permit to have the home is your first hurdle. After you obtain all of the licenses you need contact social services in your county, they have funds that you can use if you are legitimate.

You will need to establish a nonprofit organization FIRST before you will be able to raise any significant funds. An excellent resource for both starting your org and finding and applying for federal and foundation funding is at The Foundation Center website, under their "Getting Started" tab. You'll have a hard time getting donations unless you get 501(c)3 approval from the IRS, so you'll probably have to come up with the money on your own until then.
