is he (the author) talking about Dodge and Chrysler merging, or just cutting back on their individual product line???

i really need to know, its the only article i found with an author's opinion and i have to write a review on it.....i will award pts!

Its an interesting idea. Traditionally the Big 3 automakers would have distinct product lines, like Dodge and Chrysler. Chrysler was a more expensive line, Dodge was more economical, but in many cases they were exactly the same car with different trim, and luxury features.

But now the company is in trouble, so they figured they could save money by making all the -cars- Chrysler and all the -trucks- Dodge. The same company is making the same cars and trucks, they're just putting different nameplates on them. People think of Chrysler as a nice car, and Dodge trucks have a good reputation, built by years of advertising during NFL games.

They're not merging, they've been the same company for decades! They may eliminate some models but their regular lines remain pretty much the same. It's just a marketing strategy to use the brand names where they think they'll do the most good.
