hey I'm thinking of getting factions and creating a ranger/assassin character. I'm planning to use daggers rather than bow, and I was thinking of a good skillbuild I could use.
Any help guys?

PS:: Since I don't have factions yet, is it possible to start my character as only a ranger, beat prophecies, and then transfer over to factions; and after it gets transferred to factions I become second class assassin?

I've answered this sort of question before:
Rangers may become sins but with limited skills. They can use the usage of high Expertise for energy management, and use skills in that that catagory such as Whirling Defense, and/or Throw Dirt for melee character spikes. They are good in some ways but there's onlya couple of builds that work well together.
Look on www.pvxwiki.com for some assasin builds, take out the critical strikes and put it into expertise and ureplace the critical skills. a R/A without expertise is better off as a A/?

Thomas is correct. The easiest way to make your Prophecies Ranger an assassin is thru the Great Temple. No need to beat Prophecies. You will want to explore in factions though in order to get some assassin skills.

The only thing I'd add is that what you are planning sounds like a really bad build. It will get you thru most of the easy and mid-level sections, but will fail in high end missions. Why do you want to use daggers on a ranger? A ranger is going to be best with a bow. If you want to use daggers, create an assassin primary so you'll be able to max out Critical strikes and dagger mastery.

Another alternative is to create a critical Barrager. This is an Assassin/Ranger character that uses the critical strikes attribute with a bow and the Elite skill Barrage to score lots of critical hits.

For the PS Question, yes you can change over... as soon as you reach Lions Arch you can go to Cantha actually.

When you add the factions key to your acocunt, you can go to "Temple Of Balthazar" and pay 500g to the profession changer and he can change you to R/A, your char doesn't need to have been in Factions though, as long as you have it added to your account.

And on the build try this site in my sources, has lots of good builds on it.
