In this rainy season, my garage often gets wet because of the cars. I've got to sweep every time our family cars come in. There are several shelves in the garage which I'm afraid the water might ruin them. So what do you do if your car brings water into the garage? Thanks for any suggestion.

Carpet in the garage will hold the moisture and you'll be wet/damp forever. How about a fan to circulate the air. Just leave it on and crack the overhead door a little. I'd use a box fan and have it blow across the floor and out under the overhead door.

We bought those large plastic storage shelves from Home Depot. We used the shelves only, as a floor underneath the storage boxes in the garage. Anything that really needs to be dry is in a plastic bin with a lid (Calcium chloride, the litter for the bunnies, old papers and books). If it is snowing out, we use the car that is stored outside whenever possible and leave the car in the garage dry. I like the idea of the ventilation box fan blowing across the floor to speed the drying. The floor should be on a slight slant to drain water out toward the door. They sell mats you can put under the car that might help you.

The car should not be bring that much water into your garage. If this is really a problem you could get some used carpet and lay it down until the rains stop and then replace with the new season.
