Hi everyone. Here are some details. I'm 25 and almost finished with my internship to becoming a dietitian (6 months left). I have never travelled outside the US and I am dying to travel, learn spanish and live in another country. What I really would like to do is just move somewhere different directly after my internship to maybe...puerto rico, learn spanish and hopefully work in my profession ( i know they have the same system to becoming a dietitian thats why i say puerto rico) . This sounds really difficult, but I would like to do it. What I am worried about is that after all of my school i pretty much have no savings plus I will be an entry level dietitian...and not understand spanish. I have taken a couple of years of spanish in high school and am now listening to spanish cds during my commute. I know it would probably be smarter to work in my profession here in California where I live =P but i have the travel bug bad. Any advice, thoughts, suggestions would be helpful! thanks!

There is no problem for you to go work in Puerto Rico. It is part of the USA and you can just move there without any immigration problems at all. Also many speak English there too. You could get a job right away at a hospital and take Spanish at night!

By the way, there are more Spanish speakers in California than there are in Puerto Rico. 55% of the population in California has Spanish as their 1st or 2nd language! East LA is one of the most foreign places I've ever been!

I think Puerto Rico is a good option for you, as I assume they will accept your credentials. Maybe try finding the job through some network before arriving there, since you do not have a lot of money to live off if you're unemployed. Another way of travelling to some areas of South America could be doing some sort of volunteer work, like maybe Peace Corp or something like that where they might need a dietitian to help in certain health areas

Well, as an American going to their nation, don't assume to get any of the matters they call for once they come to this nation. You will have got to comply with all in their laws and legislation, and if you don't find it irresistible, they're going to now not difference them for you, you're going to simply be instructed to go away. Of path, if the identical had been performed right here, the immigrants and liberals might be crying "foul".
