1. A clerk moves a box down a horizontal aisle by pulling on straps attached to the box. The horizontal force is 250 newtons. The box is 35 kg. What is the coefficiant of kinetic friction?

2. What is the acceleration of a pillow that is being pulled 5 newtons in a 37 degree angle. The mass of the pillow is 1.0 kg.

3. what are the x and y componets of a 509 kg pumpkin inclined on 30 degree angle. (Assume the pumpkin is at rest)

1) Assuming constant speed
250=35*9.8*µk
solve for µk

µk=0.73

2) the vertical is
5*sin(37)-9.8=1*ay
ay=-6.8 m/s^2
The horizontal is
5*cos(37)=1*ax
ax=4 m/s^2

if the pillow is on a frictionless surface it slides at a=4 m/s^2 in the horizontal

"3) I will assume the x and y are w/r/t parallel to the surface of the incline
x=509*9.81*sin(30)"
2497 N this is the force parallel to the surface of the incline
since the pumpkin is at rest, there is a frictional force equal to it.
y=509*9.81*cos(30)
4324 N This is the normal force
