He wants the truth on what chances does he have?

Go for it. If she says no, you're right back where you started, but at least you tried and learned something. Keep trying and eventually someone will say yes.
Or give up. Once you start, it can be addictive. Then you end up spending all your time/money/energy on getting laid.

He's 47 and a virgin? Wow! Well, if he's only looking for sex, then I'd say forget about it! Women who are in his age range, if single, are looking for a relationship! no physically and mentally normal man would be 47 years old without having sex. he probably has social anxiety disorder, poor communication skills, and hormone trouble. you say he is ugly and a freak, that might be the reason...but his inability to form any relationships would inhibit his ability to have normal sex. without making drastic changes to his life, such as therapy, the chances of him having sex with a female human being is low
