Yes, but the bully down the street would usually punch me and steal my helmet; because I was (in his words,) a "pumpkin head."
Now, I know what you're thinking, I could just outrun him on my bike........
But if I did that, he would go home and get his ATV, and chase me around the neighborhood for an hour and a half. All the while he would giggle hysterically, and shout, "hey, who's faster now!?!" Once he decided to catch me, he would steal my shoes, tie them to my helmet straps, and chuck them over the nearest power line.
After several years of this, I had had enough, and decided to take action!
Naturally, I called the municipalities, and had them pull down all my shoes and helmets with a cherry-picker. Some bullies just never learn.

Not a chance! I don't think bicycle helmets were even invented when I was a kid. NObody wore them - and remarkably, none of my childhood friends cracked open their skulls... and it isn't as if we didn't do some incredibly dumb stuff! :)

No, in fact you would have been made fun of if you wore one. It wasn't till I was about 21 that I started seeing most people wearing them. I never came close to hitting my head once mountain biking. What I really needed was shin guards.

Nope, even though i passed a Bike riding safety course when i was little lol. but people shoulld wear helmets.

I don't think they even HAD them when I was a kid. Dashboards were made of metal and the only seat belt I remember was my mom sticking her arm out if she made a sudden stop

no, that long ago, the only helmets were in use for motorcycles and military....that i can think of
