Many things.
Impossible to tell until you determine what caused the light to come on.
Could be as simple as a loose gas cap, clogged air filter, to something like a bad O2 sensor.
Impossible to know until you get it diagnosed.

about a hundred different things. if you are mechanically inclined (can use a wrench and screwdriver) take your car to one of the larger auto parts stores. Most will run a computer check for free if you buy the part from them. Not a bad deal because you will need the part anyway whether you or someone else installs it

ALL GM'S HAVE A SELF DYNASTIC SYSTEM BUILT IN , GET A HAYNES OR CHILTON MANUAL AND GO THRU THE PROCEDURES . IT WILL TELL YOU WHAT IS STORED IN MEMORY BY FLASHING THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT A CERTAIN # OF TIMES ( IT'S ALL IN THE MANUAL )
