Back when it was called "The Information Super Highway". I remember hearing mutterings about it a couple of years before it took off. Then you started seeing tv commercials that flashed website addresses at the bottom of the screen. (don't think you see that much anymore)
Heh- remember when the novelty of a "chat room" was exciting. I hate em now. Why are the people in them so cliquey & annoying?
And then your very 1st email address! How cool was That? Do you remember it? (the ones that're long defunct, that is)

Nobody does the stroll down memory lane better than The Fonz!
Yeah, I remember those wild early days. You could actually meet people in those chat rooms who weren't trying out to be on the next NBC Dateline To Catch a Predator. You used to get charged by the hour for an ultra slow dial up connection. You really couldn't do much other than chat rooms, email and read the news. It took like a half hour to load a website. Just remember, we still owe a big hearty thank you to Al Gore. He said he invented the Internet and I believe everything any politican tells me.

I DO remember when celebrities' agendas and their marketing publicists were losing to the amateurs on the internet! When news was not about politics shoving agendas down our throats, but just fun!!!! When I met my then-boyfriend in a financial chatroom and he flew me to Florida after months of letter-writing and pictures exchanging, and the once in a while phone calls...before 9/11..

God, that noise AOL used to make as it dialled up!! i used to play this pop quiz in the chat rooms, it was ace! Also, I was big into Slingo!
I remember trying to access the internet from the library, it was sooo slow! (Which helped when I accidentally fell across a paedo site - trying to shut it down quicky was the hard part!)
And the first night I got the internet (33.3 bit modem, steady on now) I sat up all night - I was on for 9 hours solid! (my phone bill was horrendous, lol)
And I still have my first Yahoo address :-)

Ahhhhhhhh... memories.
Remember waiting 15 minutes to get online because the modems were so slow and would be busy all the time??

Yes, I do. And my first office computer was REALLY big. Took two men to move it and it took up a lot of space. You needed three 5" disks just to get the thing started each morning.
WOW, we've come a long way, Baby!
