His biggest sin was not telling the truth on the news night after night, and no one trusted his reporting any more.

Since when is not checking out your sources for a news story a felony comparable to a public official taking bribes? It's amazing that this story prevented people from looking at what Bush's real service record was. In the meantime, Republicans got away with their phony Swift Boat Attack. At least now it will cost T. Boone Pickens $1million or his integrity when the truth comes out on that one. I'm guessing he'll go with the integrity, since he never had any of that to lose in the first place.

He broke the cardinal rule of journalism ... know your facts and verify your sources. In his over zealousness to slam President Bush, he broke an erronious story about Bush being a draft dodger and presented false facts.
The network let him resign instead of being fired.

He followed Walter Cronkite. Those are pretty big shoes to fill and Rather never came close. That being said, the brouhaha over his coverage of Bush's wussing out on his military service still raises some very serious questions that Bush and the whitehouse have never answered.

One, yeah okay. Rather got what he deserved. We`have to hold the media accountable for bias and misinformation presented as fact.

He got off easy. He fabricated a completely false story. I don't care for Bush but his kind of reporting was crap.
He twisted, changed, edited etc.., anything to boost his ratings or feed his large ego.

That is one take. Here is another.
Ethical people are much harder on themselves than those without ethics.
Rather bowed out like a gentleman. Limbaugh lied, lawyer-ed up, and faked a rehab to keep his drones.
As for Imus, I didn't care about him before he ran his mouth. I won't care about him if he comes back. Rappers are far worse than he.
