I was thinking of watching them but not sure now.
Basically, I'm just asking what's so innapropriate about them.

Seinen!=innapropriate content.

All Seinen means is that the show is targeted for an audience older than, say Naruto fans for example (18+). Just because a show gets labeled as Seinen doesn't mean it automatically has to have graphic violence, nudity, swearing, or other adult only content.

And this is a true representation of Haruhi and Lucky Star. When Haruhi was airing, for example, it was the most popular show on TV for 18- 30 (I think 30 was the upper, but it may be lower) year olds in Japan. This is the audience that it was targeted for originally, thus it is considered a Seinen.

It's what the show is aimed at.

Lucky Star was designed to be "Moé". Apparently, the target demographic for most shows like this are people in the bracket of 18-30. Primarily targeted at Male Otaku.

Though it's been said that younger children fantasize about being super-strong epic fighters or ninjas, whilst older people wish they were back in school, when they didn't have much responsibility.

That and references and overtones you see in Lucky Star you need to catch.

As for Haruhi, well, same as above really. Suggest reading the Novel though, great fun.

It's not like it's hardcore pornography or anything, it's just Novels/Manga/Anime targeted at an Older Audience.

Haruhi: Sometimes Haruhi will forcefully change the clothes of another girl. But you never see anything.

Lucky Star: Nothing really.
