Use parentheses to identify the numerator and denominator.
6/(13-b) = 4/(2-0.5b)

Cross-multiply to get the unknowns in the numerator:
(2-0.5b)6 = 4(13-b)
12 - 3b = 52 - 4b
solve for b

Hello,

Do you mean 6/(13-b) = 4/(2-0.5b)??

Now if you want it solved we cross multiply and we have 6(2-0.5b) = 4(13-b) or 12 - 3b = 52 -4b adding 3b to both sides gives us 12 = 52 -1b then subtracting 52 from each sides and we have -40 = -b so b = 40.

Hope This Helps!!

6/(13-b) = 4/(2-0.5b) can also be written by "upside-down" ing the equation;

(13-b)/6 = (2- 0.5b)/4

you see, if we multiply both sides by four, we get this;

4(13-b)/6 = 2-0.5b

then, by multiplying both sides with six, we get this;

4(13-b) = 6 (2-0.5b)

solve the brackets, we get;

52 - 4b = 12 - 3b

then you get;

-b = -40

or simply;

b = 40
