I am using a laptop wirelessly and connecting to an access point. The printer that I want to connect to is connected directly to another computer (by a USB cord).

Whenever I try to connect to this printer through the wired computer, it gives me an error message, saying that the operation could not be completed. The printer is currently being shared, and file and printer sharing is on.

One more thing: my laptop uses Vista Home Basic, and the other computer uses XP Professional, if that helps.

You need to setup File and Printer sharing, or add that Printer to your printer folder.

Everything here is simular for XP. However, if you want only XP Info, just click on the link to the left for XP.
