are there any other restrictions if to be able to get a gun liscence? - I mean besides not having a criminal history and obvious stuff like that.
What is your honest opinion on the gun laws in the U.S.? Do you think that if it is made harder to get access to guns will lessen the crime rate? Or do you think there is another reason for the horrible high rates of murder and shooting?

Thanks so much! All opinions are appreciated, but make sure to keep your answers civil, considerate, and courteous.

In Florida its 18 for long guns like shotguns and rifles and 21 for Handguns from a FFL
However 18 year olds in some states including Florida are able to get a handgun legally by either buying it from a private party like a classified ad or having it gifted to them by a parent 21+up.
The gun laws in this country are ridiculous they should be repealed and minimized.

The only gun control law we should have is background check that is instant like in 15 minutes and you can leave with the gun the same day when you are approved. The form 4473 should be shortened to the point where it takes 2 minutes to fill out instead of 5-10 minutes. No registration of any gun should be allowed and the ATF should be reformed and have their authority limited to enforcing background checks and the balance flow of guns in the legal market.

Otherwise it should be easy enough for a 18 year old and up to get any gun they want if they are not a violent criminal and ain't a dangerous nut case.
Anyone under 18 requires parental permission and some supervision for shooting otherwise they have a right to defense at home too.

All self defense laws like castle doctrine and ccw/open carry laws should stay the same and should be implemented nation wide.18 open carry and 21 ccw is how it should be.

In Illinois 18 for long guns and 21 for handguns.
Gun laws are a way for municipalities to make money...most don't keep any type of guns off the street, because they will wind up in the hands of criminals in some form or another.

Federal law dictates 18 for long guns like
shotguns or rifles and 21 for pistols. See the link for additional rules for your state. Laws and criminals don't mix...only the law-abiding follow the rules. More laws only affect the good people of this country.

In the US, there is no limit to how old/young you can be to own a gun. I owned my first two when I was 10 years old but you can't buy ammo and you can't buy a gun until you're 21 years old. Luckily I had a mother that bought me ammo so I could go hunt. She also bought my first revolver and ammo at 18 when I became a detective.

18 for certain guns then twenty somethin for others. you have to pass a mental health evaluation.

i think the crime rate will stay high even if we banned owning a gun because of people smuggling guns. the reason, in my opinion, is all the people living in the ghettos of cities "need" guns for protection. there, its kill or be killed.

if they want crime to lower, improve the conditions for the people living in "the hood"
