Not sure if BMW is non-standard. But normal inspections look for tire tread depth, rim condition, dents, scratches, windshield cracks, interior damage, excess wear, stains, cig burns, missing or broken items, mileage, modifications, fluids OK, fluid leaks, general running condition, spare tire and jack.
This varies by company, but you may have to replace the floor mats with factory mats, can be expensive. Just one of the secret joys of leasing.
