Neither. It's in western Ireland. It is in the republic though, if that's what you mean.

Is Galway In Northern Ireland

2016-11-03 00:00:30 · answer #2 · answered by sharona 4 · 0 0

I have to say northern Ireland. some stunning scenery on the antrim coast (giants causeway, dunluce castle, Bushmills distillery, Mussendon temple, etc), Mourne mountains, Fermanagh lakelands as well as Belfast and Derry city. northern Ireland is much much cheaper than the republic even when you compare the Euro v's Pound exchange rate. the Republic has some great scenery too - Kerry, Galway and Dublin. However, I found the people are more into ripping you off. A lot of people in the Republic of Ireland just want Americans or any tourists there to spend money and don't really respect us. Northern Irish were much friendlier.

I might be a little biased as I live in the north. Both parts of Ireland are great in different ways. If you really can't make up your mind, you could go somewhere along the border. Though if you're going on a package deal then maybe they don't have this option. I disagree with the comment that Northern Ireland is a British experience. It depends what areas you go to of course, and what you are hoping to get out of the visit. I personally would reccomend around Carlingford lough (it's right on the border) for scenery or certain parts of Donegal. Dublin of course is a good visit but is very touristy. Ballycastle is lovely too with the Giants Causeway. And I love Galway. Have a look through different websites or books for these places or any others you have heard of and see if one jumps out at you.

Hello Carrie, Galway is in the far west of Ireland and has the Atlantic Ocean beating on its shores and washing Galway Bay with two Tidal flows every 24 hours, and it is placed in Southern Ireland. I hoped this helps you out with your query about my home town...Good Luck now...Tony M

Galway is in the Republic, so that's the south.

It's on the West coast, and includes the region of Connemara and the Aran Islands.

Galway City has a nickname: Town of the Tribes. Can't remember why this is, but it is a tribal kind of place alright. In a nice way.
