With a team already in Columbus, just an hour away, I don't see an NHL team coming to Cincy anytime soon. I wouldn't know about basketball, though. Cincy's got a good tradition of college basketball, so why not?

I get the feeling that the NHL would be quicker to put a team in Cincinnati than the NBA, giving the NHL's latest track record of expansion.

I don't know about an NHL team. There already is a minor league team there. (Cincinatti Mighty Ducks)
An NBA team would be conceivable. It is right next to Kentucky and close to Indiana, the two biggest basketball states in the country, so I could see a pretty good fan base. There actually was a pro basketball team there many years ago. (Cincinatti Royals) But the market is not big enough yet for either one.

Well, the NHL, although they do need a fresh market, aren't bringing in enough to have an expansion. So unless they move a team (such as the predators) I would say no.
The NBA is a hot market and a sport which continues to grow in popularity. No doubt that they have the money and the resources.. it's possible.

I'm sure the NHL feels one team in Ohio is enough.

It's a small market without a suitable arena, so it won't happen until a 21st Century arena is built.
