you can try them whenever you want to
there's nothing to be afraid of...i've been using them since i was about 13..they are WAY more comfortable than pads and allow you to move more freely
I would suggest getting ones with plastic applicators though...I use Tampax Pearl...
P.S....it shouldnt hurt if you use them the right way (if that's what you are scared of)....they have directions in the box...
feel free to email me if you need anymore info

I switched from pads to tampons when I was around 18 for the day time and then kept my pads for at night time. Then when I got in to my 20s I switched back to pads full time because of a medical condition I have that is unrelated to the tampon itself. I've been using pads again ever since.

You don't have to switch, stay with what you're comfortable with. I stayed with pads because everyone says tampons hurt but because I'm so active I sweat a lot and the pads stick to me so I decided I'm going to switch and tampons didn't hurt me at all.

I switched like two days into my first period. Pads drove me nuts. A lot of girls hate wearing them if they play sports. Or swimming too since you can;t wear them in the water. I would switch whenever you feel ready. Personally, I love tampons and would never go back to pads. Try out the tampax pearls and start with the lightest absorbency so it doesnt hurt when you put them in.

Take it slow. Try using tampons for maybe an hour or so at a time (you can even wear a pad with it if you'd like). Then slowly move up. Best wishes and good luck.

when you are ready. I used tampons here and there in junior high and high school, and went full time to them my first year in college. I just slowly progressed to them. It's a little uncomfortable at first, but you get used to it...which reminds me, I have one in right now, and I completely forgot I started my period today. HAHAHAHAH!!! I am brainless, sometimes.

Just switch when you are comfortable...I used the Tampax Pearl for a while, but my tampon of choice is Kotex...they work just as good! :)

i'm 13 (almost 14) and i use both!
i use tampons usually during the day if i go somewhere....and usually pads at night or if i'm not really doing anything.

well, you can use both at the same time if you want,
but i wouldnt recomend it, unless you have a REALY strong flow

but, you can start using tampons on you SECOND period.
that would be better

Good luck!

I think the question should be WHY should I switch...

It's ALL up to personal preference ;););););)
