I am writing a story about three sisters and their love stories before and during the civil war, its just their stories need something compelling like a twist! One sister had married a man from the north before the war, and now she is torn between supporting her soldier husband who will be fighting her own flesh and blood who live in the south! I need something dramatic to happen to either her, her husband or family or their actions that will make this an unforgettable story of love! Give me any ideas for the story, but I want a unique twist or something that'll really capture people's hearts!

If her husband did get captured, how could he have gotten out of imprisonment?

I read a book once called "Guns of the South (can't remember the author)." It had a petite woman dress up like a man. No one could tell because she wore bigger clothes. The men thought she was just a young boy. Then later on, one of the men found out because he went to the tent where she was, and seen her take off her shirt looking at a gunshot wound. I think they got married toward the end of the book.

Twists are great, but you really have to do thorough research to have a great story. You could have the most novel twist but if you don't have your facts straight, someone reading the story will inevitably call you on it. So once you have an idea or two, make sure your settings and actions are historically accurate.

I can suggest a plot idea. The husband is captured and imprisoned at Andersonville, one of the war's true horror stories (there were many of those, of course). Some Union prisoners survived but many died, you would probably want your character to be one of the survivors. Maybe her family can overcome their hatred of Yankees to help her in a daring plot to break him out.

well the husband could be captured, and the only way for him to get free would be if her family helped him.....i really cant think of anything else. GOOD LUCK THOUGH!
