It depends on how anemic you are. I was very anemic, where my iron count was 7. It was severe enough for them to give me a blood transfusion. I am also on iron pills now. It can be serious, I was to the point where it was difficult to walk. If your friend was that anemic she wouldn't be in school. (I missed a month) You're going to be okay. Just keep taking your iron pills and you'll be fine. Tell your "friend" that if she was really that sick, she shouldn't be at school. Use my story as an example. That should put her in her place.

Being anemic can be dangerous. You have a lower oxygen carrying capacity which can lead to chronic fatigue and feeling of over exertion. Which in severe cases i'm sure someone can pass out from lack of oxygen. But what's more important is the underlying cause of anemia. There are many different reasons why someone can be anemic. What your mom is referring to is iron deficient anemia. There are others including renal anemia (your kidney's not signaling the release of more blood cells), aplastic anemia (defect in your bone marrow where blood cells are produced), and a few others. It'd be a good idea to find out what is causing your anemia and then getting it treated. If its a simple lack of iron, then include more iron in your diet, its not too dangerous, but it could be something more serious. If your not sure which one you have i'd advise going to a doctor and finding out.

Some forms of anemia are indeed serious such as sickle cell anemia. However if you have iron deficient anemia it can cause problems but I wouldn't consider it serious. Iron helps carry oxygen to the organs. It can easily be treated with diet and/or pills. Just be careful to much iron can make you constipated.
There are other forms of anemia as well.

If it rather is anemia, that's an incredibly extreme case. i'm assuming the call James ability you're male; noteworthy with the aid of fact the two anemia and autoimmune illnesses are extra user-friendly in women. have you ever had blood assessments ? incredibly diagnosing anemia on extra suitable than only indicators demands a CBC. in case you have been abode and bedridden for 2 weeks this makes me strongly suspect Infectious Mononucleosis (mono) brought about via the Epstein-Barr Virus. extreme fatigue is the main classic symptom, alongside with fever (which motives chills), sore throat (some thing you probably did no longer point out), sensitivity to gentle (lower back no longer stated), enlarged lymph nodes, and anemia itself. How white are we conversing approximately on your hands ? extreme discoloration of the palms, the two white or blue is time-honored as Raynaud's phenomenon, which could be via itself or secondary to a number of autoimmune illnesses, although your indicators do no longer in good shape any, aside from Pernicious anemia (challenge absorbing diet B12) or consistent with possibility hemolytic anemia, although i think of you will have observed brown urine and yellow epidermis/eyes if so. melancholy can cutting-edge with fatigue and desirous to sleep 12 or extra hours an afternoon yet would not clarify your coldness, epidermis shade. initiate taking iron, and supplementations B-6, B-12, C (diet C enables in absorption of iron), and Folic Acid on account that anemia probable is an precise prognosis (although in case you're male, have a balanced weight loss application, and are not bleeding consistently, why you have that's yet another tale). A multivitamin is probable a thank you to circulate in this. If its mono, it is going to rather is going away via itself, and that's some thing the physician ought to order an antibody try for. devour extreme-protein food. stay hydrated. attempt to push your self to get some exercising. And circulate lower back on your physician.

Yes, anemia can be serious but I would recommend checking with your doctor as well to see what they say.
