A moral character is a state of being, our nature. Moral character does the right thing for the right reason. The right reason is not fear nor is it the hope of reward nor is it the desire to get some sort of feeling. To do a good deed because doing so feels good is not the right reason for character.

Moral character is based upon moral obligation.
