My favorite movie of all time is the Princess Bride. I'll be enamoured of one or another for time, but that's the one I keep coming back to. Bookwise, there are so many I love, but Life of Pi was awesome, as was Mystic River. Tolkien was an amazing author.

Book: I have to admit - Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was truly phenomenal. I felt it stood apart from the rest of the series and will be one of my all-time favorite books.
Movie: Pan's Labyrinth. I saw it three times in the theater. It was a terrific movie - should be in the "literary movie cannon" if such a thing exists. I would recommend it to all who are not discouraged by subtitles.
