then how are you typing this question if the keyboard doesn't work after bootup??
first question would be is it a USB keyboard?

boot up into safe mode
using the mouse
right click my computer icon >select manage >device manager >expand keyboard >select the keyboard >delete it completely
reboot the puter and let windows find the keyboard and load the driver.

Try taking it to Best Buy over to the geek section. They usually know how to fix it. If can't do that i suggest you get a new motherboard and see it that works. GOOD LUCK! =)

keyboard a somewhat fragile. I would think of buying a new one. There not that expensive.

reload the driver for it... enter in safe mode try that and get on the internet and redownload the driver for the keyboard.

What kind of a keyboard do you have? USB, PS/2, Firewire (doubt it)?

check on the back for a switch.. if it is very very very old it might have one..
is it wireless? --> check the battery
if it is usb the drivers are probably messing up

1) its probably not connected in correctly
2) go take it to p.c wearhouse
3) get a laptop, its newer, nicer, and more sufficient
