during ice ages did the sea level rise or decrease? thanks for any help!

It decreases. The spread of many land animals (including man) appears to have happened during ice ages when it was possible to walk from place to place where now there is sea. This is possibly how the eskimo came from asia.

During ice ages, more fresh water was tied up in ice sheets that covered much of the northern hemisphere so sea level was much lower. If you look at how ice melts in a glass, the water level does not overflow the glass when the ice melts and does not go down with the water starts to freeze. If all the ice in the ice age had been sea ice, sea level would not have changed. When the ice built up on land, making glaciers, it was taking water out of the oceans as water vapor that fell as snow. Since the snow do not melt, the longer this went on, the lower sea level got.
