A tradition is something that repeats itself...Having your friend over with her mom is a tradition for you...It's something that you know is going to happen and you plan out the details for it..Even if they don't come one year that doesn't mean its no longer a tradition it just means that you changeed plans for that particular time...Traditions are memories...They can last forever...Happy Holidays!!!

I would not call that a tradition at that point. It normally takes about 5 years for something to become a family tradition, but it may take as many as 20 years for something to become a tradition in the government.

It was a novel idea the first time, you thought it worked and tried to improve on it a second time, then if it becomes a good idea that you repeat this year, it will be a new tradition. If it ever gets skipped for anything other than an emergency, it becomes a dropped tradition due to no longer being wanted enough to overcome the inconveniences.

If you do it more than once and plan to do it again, it can be a tradition, but if you don't do it the next time you have broken the tradition and it is no longer that.

It is a tradition and just because one year it does not happen does not mean it is broken it just means that is was delayed. For instance it is a tradition in my family to go to the neigbors house a sing the virgin mary song. Posada.

Tradition is something you hold dear to you. It doesn't matter how often you do it, it doesn't matter if it doesn't happen one year or for four years....if it happens once and you hold it dear it is a tradition you will hold dear to you forever. Only you can decide what is a tradition and what is a favorite past time...

You can call it whatever you like. Since she has come the last three times, I would call it a tradition.

yes u would find this a tradition.
a tradition is when you do something - i.e camp in michigan every 3rd week in august. - every year in the same time period - i.e. all hallows eve - more that once
its like a life long plan to remind yourself to have that one fun special moment... happen again.

You could call it tradition if you want, don't think about the what ifs. I don't think it will affect your life a great deal.

When you declare it a tradition, it becomes so.
Good luck.
