Research. Find a prostitute and interview him. The motivating factor can only be that he is addicted to sex or the money. Further more its HARD work and there are too many risks involved. Be a friend, and try to deter him (how is his self esteem?)

question him about it see why he wants to do it...if it seems valid and he understands the risks and conditions then get him to train good prostitutes earn allot of money and set up his own business less likely to lose money to a 3rd party etc
if its what he REALLY wants to do it, don't discourage him too much just be there for him in case he wants to back out later.
