* Extremely costly, dangerous, and technological difficult to get rid of spent fuel.

* Extreme toxicity that lasts literally for centuries.

People dont understand it and are afraid of it, and our screwed up justice system lets any idiot file countless lawsuits and drag stuff out forever in court. So we dont get new nuke plants. Nuke plants are as safe as anyother electric plant, Yes they produce waste but so does coal or oil. There are a heckuva alot more coal minors dieing every year of accidents or lung disease than have ever died from radiation. not counting the Japs.

simple enough - basically, there is no easy way to process the waste. Sinces its still radioactive after use, it poses a big biological/health hazard.
