If i buy one will it consume my life or enhance it? I have serious reservations that it will just suck up all my time and i'll miss out on other things. Games like oblivion for example are surely massive time sponges, should i just avoid this game and go for shorter and more linear games? (eg uncharted)
Thoughts from present ps3 owners appreciated.
Can you live a normal rich and socially active life and own a ps3 and oblivion?

There are no disadvantages of buying a PS3.
The PS3 has no hardware failure problems like the Xbox 360.
The PS3 has more built in features than the Xbox 360 or the Wii and the PS3 will surely enhance your entertainment life.
The PS3 has a good selection of games out now, and the PS3 will dominate 2008 when it comes to game selection. I haven't heard of any big Xbox 360 exclusive titles for 2008 yet except for Gears of War 2 in late 2008, but it may not make it until early 2009.
I own a PS3, and yes you can live a socially active life if you choose to do so, but I have to admit with games like Killzone 2, Metal Gear Solid 4, Metal Gear Online, Haze, Resistance Fall of Man 2, The Getaway 3, Socom Confrontation, Final Fantasy XIII, God of War 3, and Gran Turismo 5 coming out, it will be hard to put down the controller!
I think that you should invest in both games like Oblivion and Uncharted Drakes Fortune because that way, you can get the best out of the PS3. Uncharted Drakes Fortune has a pretty good length too it to me (10-12 hours, It took me 11 hours to beat it the first time I played it.)

My friend, you are in complete contol of your life. I am a PS3 owner (as well as a Wii, but the PS3 is better) and love every minute of it. However, I still have plenty of time for school (I am a fulltime student), my wife, and work. If I can do it you can too. Go for it.
I happen to own both Oblivion and Uncharted. I have beat uncharted and am almost done with Oblivion. Get them both ,they are amazing and you will not regret it!
If you are worried about time, set pre-determined time limits on every game session. When the time is up, get up and turn the game off.
As a fan of every major system I must say the the PS3 is wonderful and unconditionally my favorite ever. Go for it.

yes you can have a normal life even if you own a ps3 cos you just turn it off and do your normal day to day things, go out and enjoy yourself aswell cos the game will be saved for you when you having nothing to do

Big disadvantage you will lose 400$ on a bad game system with good grahics. Just like watching paint dry in super real life clarity. Some titles are good though others are just plain crap. Other words like all games it will always consume your life and almost never enhance.

if you want shorter answers ask what the advantages are instead. Personally ive given up buying consoles all together as they only last a few years before they end up collecting dust in the loft!

i had 1 it sux trust me it fryed on the 3rd week i got my money back and got a wii instead and it was worth it way better
