i was going to but a 15" macbook pro 2.4ghz this december, but heard i should wait until the next update. anyone hae any ideas if its worth the wait or will i t not be for another half a year etc? thanks for your answers.

Very likely, new MacBooks will be announced at Macworld expo in January. Until then, it's all rumors and half baked information.

Well, since apple just did a major update, mac OS x leopard, they probably won't be anything new for quite a while. I'd imagine the computers get updates once a year or twice, but they may also go up in price.

I don't think your losing out getting one now, other than the chance to spend more money for a similar thing later.

Macrumors.com says it's nearing the end of an update cycle so if you don't mind waiting, it might just be worth it or it could be another minor speed bump.

I didn't wait and I got one with Radeon X1600 graphics.

Right now, it's Geforce 8600GT, which is amazing.

Getting one now is fine if you need it. 8600GT is very good (it is amazing in games...and if a graphics card is good in games, you know it's good for anything else)
