OK. Listen carefully. I will say it three times:
There are no talent scouts
There are no talent scouts
There are no talent scouts
Casting people are overwhelmed with volunteers. No scouting is needed. If you find an "open" (i.e.. "cattle") call audition, be prepared to spend 12 to 18 hours in line, either freezing or roasting, with 2.465 gazillion other hopefuls who are more prepared, better looking, more talented, and more experienced than you are.
An agent will do the scut work for you, but only after you have proven yourself capable of making money in showbiz.
VERY IMPORTANT! An agent will take a percentage of your earnings from a job, NOT take a fee upfront to find you work. If anyone tells you differently, you are being scammed.
There's a broken heart for every light on Broadway. Be smart. Learn a trade.

Talent scouts are a myth (and a hallmark of acting/modeling scams). There is so much competition for so few jobs that nobody has to lift a finger to cast anything, let alone scour the country looking for unknown amateurs.
You'll just have to hang in there and fight tooth and nail like everyone else, get a really good agent, or marry a director, producer, or famous actor. Those are pretty much your options.

listen to helene. If you are ever qualified to do other than baby performances, maybe you will get the chance. This other gal who had a "talent scout" approach her in the mall was being scammed by one of the oldest scams. She was lucky she could not go.
