Depends on the location and major occupation of the village. A farming community will support a very different village than one where a sea port is it's main function.

A village, at a shipping harbor will, of necessisity, be very different than one nestled among alpine peaks.

If you are designing a village for a project, including it's streets and structures, YOU will have to imagine yourself as the one who lays it out to meet it's needs. What is going on, in the village, and then decide how it would have, naturally, developed and grown.
