do make him wear a condom.. the pill protects you from having a baby not std
do make sure that you talk openly about your feelings
don't think just because you feel a certain way about him mean that he does about you

My wife and I made love on our first date. We had only known each other about a month. That was 19 years ago and we are both still very happy. I'm not sure if this is what you're asking, but thats my opinion.
