The problem with virtual communities is they can be reliant on written text and visual interpretation, that even the most honest person can be subject to a hundred different interpretations based solely on what the reader or viewer wants to take out a given situation! Thus it is difficult to really communicate 'who you are' and can sometimes be easier to just give in and become something that is an 'escape' from our only to human and flawed 'real' selves!
