It sounds like you need to move to Canada.
We have crime because the same criminals are let out of jail to continue their trade.
Incidentally, 170,000,000 people, that's one hundred seventy millions people were killed by their own governments in the Twentieth Century. That's why the Founders gave us the Second Amendment.
Guns are dangerous, too dangerous to allow governments to have a monopoly on.

Not no but Hell No!!!
Emotions are not the right thing to base any solution on especially gun control.
Logic is what we should base pretty much everything on and logic says guns are a right and should be available to every person who has a clean record(Not a violent offender)
and who is mentally stable (Not known for being a complete nutcase who is a danger to himself and others and is involuntary committed to a mental facility).
Canada has 37 million people the USA has close to 300 million people a huge difference in population and culture.
The reason the USA has more crime and death is because it has way more people then Canada and the crime/death ratio will be significantly higher when compared with any country with more people.
Its typical for people like you to cry lets ban guns because of a few bad people killing out there and accidents here and there.Pure emotion filled blow-back no logic in it whatsoever.
Cars should be banned because they kill more people in the US then guns will ever do.
Seriously what is wrong with you people do you honestly think the criminals will abide by a law banning guns they will get them anyways and all that stupid ban will affect is good normal citizens who have not done a bad thing in their whole life and want to enjoy hunting, target practice, and being able to defend themselves and their family.
By definition a criminal is someone who does not care and does not follow laws especially gun laws.

Look at the numbers before you make a decision.
There are over 200 million guns in America by the governments best estimates and every year we have 40,000 or less killed by criminal use of a firearm.
In the US I'm guessing we have less than 1 million doctors and yet according to government statistics we lose between 80-100 thousand people due to medical mistakes and malpractice.
Seems I'm much safer owning a gun in the United States than I am going to the Doctor's Office.

No, the right to bear arms in the US is protected by the Constitution. Gun laws don't stop criminals from getting guns they put restrictions on Americans who go about it the legal way from getting guns. It is a fact that there is one firearm for every three Americans in this country. Most gun crime in America is commited by crimals who illegally obtain guns through the black market. Also I would like to point out the fact that Canada has one of the highest crime rates in the world(more than the U.S.) I am not saying that gun crime isnt a problem in America, my point is that making guns illegal won't decrease the problem.

With all the freedoms that come with being a citizen in this country, comes responsibility as well. Guns have also saved and protected many innocent lives. We just need to be more careful in to whom we give the licenses. Guns should be legal, but should be monitored much more closely.

Take away the guns from law abiding citizens then only the
criminals will have them

I think we need more guns. Yes they should be legal. If Sean Taylor had had a gun the ending of the story may have been different.

It would be nearly impossible to ban guns in the U.S. The problem is not the individuals who responsibly own guns and possess a concealed weapons permit. The problems lies with irresponsible gun owners, and criminals who obtain guns illegally. If we had laws to ban guns, the law abiding citizens would be sitting ducks to any gun toting criminal. On the other hand, if we all carried guns, the criminals would think twice about attacking a stranger. They wouldn't know if they would get away with their crime, or their life.
Now I know with gun ownership, comes huge responsibility, but, If I was one of those kids at Va Tech, I would have wished someone had a concealed weapon to kill that idiot before he killed me or my classmates.

No, Living in an area that 40 plus minute response times from police are common I should be able to defend myself and loved ones.
We need to be harder on criminals that commit violent crimes, before they become murderers.

Yes guns should be illegal
Every time someone asks this it is taken as giving up our rights.
Guns for protection "what are the chance of you holding your gun the minute you are attacked ---" Oh I know -if they think I have a gun they will not attack me" That is false. 99% of home breakins in Canada have no guns and there is a lot fewer breakins.
The attitude that some people have about fighting to the death the right to have a gun-----get over yourself -----use your energy to feed the poor and help your neighbour.
