I recommend two restuarants.
437 Rush
Tavern on Rush
These are both expensive, but have amazing food. They have wonderful steaks. At 437 Rush be sure to get the Italian Mashed Potatos. They are simply Amazing. For a family of four expect to pay around 175ish. It is well worth it though. Check out Navy Pier, Michigan Avenue great shopping. The apple store is always sweet. Blue Man Group in the Briar Street Theatre. It is a good show. The blackhawks are decent this year, so you may try and catch a hockey game. The Weber Grill restaurant looks neat, but it is kind of a tourist trap.
Oh, ESPN zone is awesome the food is alright, but they have a ton of things to do there. Its pretty neat. They also air ESPN 1000 AM there so you may be able to see them broadcasting.
I live about an hour from Chicago, so I go up there at least once a month. The food at 437 Rush and Tavern on Rush is simply amazing. The Tavern on Rush area is higher class so dress up a little. There is a Bentley dealer and maybe a Maserati dealer within a few blocks. Last time we ate at Tavern on Rush they were filming a reality show across the street.
oh yeah one more thing. The play Wicked which I here is good is playing at the Ford Theatre I think.

Walk down the Magnificent Mile at night with all the Holiday lights :)
Ride the ferris wheel at Navy Pier
Maybe go ice skating at Navy Pier or Millenium Park
Lincoln Park zoo is always free (just pay for parking) and is open all year, but you may not like the cold lol.
The Art Institute of Chicago and the Field museum are must sees! But make a day of it since they are quite large!
Tail-gate at a Chicago Bears football game :p
I love Chicago :) When I go, I usually just walk around and go to various stores on the Magnificent Mile. I was just there on Sunday actually.
Have fun!!
ETA: The person who mentioned the Taste of Chicago:
It's still around, but it's held at the end of June/beginning of July.

Bring warm clothes and a coat. N. Riverside mall is big. Plenty of other malls to conside too. Movie theater inside malls. House of blues has concerts if your into those. All State arena has events quite often. Also, the sears tower is neat to go on the top floor.(costs about 10-15$ per person).

Hi,I think you will be busy enough just enjoying the Mile shopping and seeing all those displays. If you make it to down town and the Pier area, that will be a bonus for you.Your short time there will not allow you to see to much this trip. But I promise you ,you will be back many times if capable. You will enjoy yourself.Good Luck.
