I have never had a pap done before, (please don't stress that I should have already gotten one done, I know this) I am 20 years old, and married. My husband and I want to start having children. We were hoping to start at the end of November early December of this year (aka right away). I was wondering, because depending on my period and the best times to conceive we only have certain weeks we can do that without having to wait till January. I scheduled an appointment to get a pap done around the 12th (dec), I was wondering if we should wait to get pregnant till after I have my pap and wait another month, or is it ok to start before? I want to make sure everything will be ok, but timing wise for the best time to conceive would make it so we would have to wait a month after the pap. I know we could wait, but we wanted to start right away. Plus I read that pap's during preg's are usually good. I just want to know if I should wait till after the pap, or if it's ok to before hand.

Chances are you aren't going to concieve your very first month in trying anyway, so go ahead and start. It won't make too much difference if you have a pap done before or after you are pregnant. Good luck to you.

You should def get a pap done to ensure that there are no problems. More times than none, everything will be fine. However, just to aire on the side of precaution, get one soon. If you choose not to get one done now, your doctor should give you a pelvic/pap when you go in for your 1st obstetrics appt. Usually, at the first appt. they do an exam to actually see if you are pregnant and you listen to the heart beat etc. Best wishes!

Get the pap done first to eliminate any problems. If you do a pap during pregnancy and it comes back with concerning news, you have to suffer through your entire pregnancy wondering if you have cancer or not because many doctors will not do a biopsy if you are pregnant.

i've got faith there's a small possibility however the docs comprehend what they're doing. in the experience that your pap smears are up as much as now then they do no longer ought to accomplish yet another one at the same time as you're pregnant or in the previous concieving. I wasn't given a vaginal examination in any respect till I went in with some bleeding at approximately 28 weeks. in case you're making plans to attempt and get pregnant and your pap smears are not up as much as now then via all ability circulate have one executed. however the docs won't do something which will positioned you in possibility unnecessarily

hey I didn't have my first paps done until I was 20! then i got pregnant a month after and they give you another one when you are 12 weeks..at least my doctor did.
you should definitely have one done before trying to have babies! you wouldn't want to get pregnant and end up having something that you should have gotten taken care of before you had a little life growing in you.
take care of yourself before you have to take care of another!

I'd go see the Dr. first. Find the ob/gyn you want to use for your care and then try. They will probably give you prenatal vitamins and lots of info for staying healthy and conceiving. Good Luck!

Most women are given one DURING early pregnancy at their first visit as well as at thir 6 week follow-up. So get one now if you want, but they will probably repeat it when you concieve anyhow.
