Hmm... not sure I understand your question. An example might help.

If you have:
√(x * x)

This is the same as:
√x²

If you take the square root of a *square* then the result is just the variable itself:
x

Here's a more complicated example:
√(2x * 2y * xy)

√(4x²y²)


You can split this apart as:
√4 * √(x²) * √(y²)

This the same as:
2 * x * y

= 2xy

it depends

if you are multiplying the sqrt. of x by the sqrt. of x, then yes, the answer is x

if there is something else under the sqrt. sign, then no
