And so it begins...as one of the worried parents caught up the missing disc scandal I was looking forward to receiving the letter HMRC have been posting out to all those parents that might have been affected. A letter came though our door today from HMRC, but addressed to someone I've never heard of at this address. So I opened it after seeing something on local television about mistakes being made with the letters and sure enough, it was one of the apology letters. This person has never had anything posted to this address before, I've never heard of her in all the years I've been living here. Now I have her child's tax credit number and her national insurance number.

And if I have hers, who's to say someone doesn't have mine now????

COMPLETE AND UTTER INCOMPETENCE!!! I shall be raising this with my local MP and HMRC tomorrow because I am not a happy bunny.

Do you think it's time for Gordon to GO?

This is not an isolated incident. Gordon Brown is responsible because he set the system up in the first place. Check this link if you don't believe me;

Gordon should never have been there in the first place. Quite apart from the incompetence, he hasn't got what it takes to handle these situations. I had no time for Tony either, but he would have been out there giving it the big one, trying to get us to bear with him and showing an attempt to be on top of things. Gordon hasn't got a clue in this direction. It may not be a requirement as such for being a prime minister, but a natural talent for identifying with public feeling and dealing with it, to me, is vital. For without it, any initial respect,and people's hopes, are all too soon dashed, and Gordon has proved this sooner than anyone could have anticipated.

I think its about time that the HMRC put Gordon Brown in an envelope and posted him. That's a guaranteed way to lose him.

no Gordon should not go. Some-one has lost or stolen those discs but locks and security only keep honest people out and if its a mistake, its a mistake. Its a catastrophic one but constructive ideas on what the 25 million should do now would be more helpful than panicking. Gordon should personally put securities in place to prevent this happening again.

Is Gordon really responsible for all mistakes with the mail. That's a weird system you got over there.

Admittedly, I don't understand a lot of this, being American myself, but how is the Prime Minister responsible for mixing up the mail? I mean, I understand that gov't can screw up a wet dream, but I can't help but wonder if you're putting blame on the wrong parties.

Still, I hope you get this mess straightened out with no long term identity theft worries for your child.

No not really mate. We all get this stuff due to ". COMPLETE AND UTTER INCOMPETENCE" I've got some now.

At my last address a copper came to arrest me as I hadn't replied & I only just avoided getting nicked. But I didn't blame that evil ***** Thatcher who was PM at the time.

Sorry to hear that you are caught up in this fiasco but man, as to bandying the word moron about, just give it a thought...

How's that going to happen? You can't get rid of him. The only people who CAN get rid of him are the other MPS - who are pretty much just as responsible as he is. The government doesn't have to listen to your opinion on any matter until election time.
